The Association of Nigeria Women Business Network (ANWBN) is proud to highlight the impactful discussions from the ANWBN Summit 2024, where distinguished women leaders emphasized the need for greater inclusion of women in governance and entrepreneurship to drive industrialization and sustainable development.
Her Excellency, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, First Lady of Ogun State and Chairperson of the Summit 2024, applauded the efforts of Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her commitment to empowering women at the grassroots level. Mrs. Abiodun highlighted key initiatives, such as the disbursement of N50 million to each state to support petty traders and farmers, which underscores the significance of women’s economic empowerment as a crucial driver for national growth. This is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 5, which focuses on gender equality and women’s empowerment as essential elements of poverty alleviation.
In addition, the Summit’s keynote speaker, Mrs. Hansatu Adegbite, called on women entrepreneurs to embrace digitalization and innovation to stay competitive in today’s rapidly evolving business landscape. She noted that businesses that fail to adapt to technological advancements risk becoming obsolete, urging women to prepare for the future by leveraging technology to sustain and scale their enterprises.
The National Coordinator of ANWBN, Mrs. Angela Ajala, further stressed the importance of building strong networks and partnerships, encouraging women to adopt a mindset of continuous learning and growth. As the premier coalition of over 75 Nigerian women’s business associations with a reach of five million women across the country, ANWBN remains committed to fostering sustainable entrepreneurial development through advocacy, policy reforms, and capacity-building initiatives.
With the theme “Future-Ready Entrepreneurs: Skill-Up to Scale-Up,” the 2024 Summit reinforced the message that passion alone is not enough for entrepreneurial success. Women must equip themselves with the necessary skills, embrace innovation, and leverage technology to unlock new opportunities and achieve long-term success in the global economy.
